Las claves del diagnostico implican (1) la aplicaci\u00f3n de criterios individuales de benignidad y (2) establecer la presencia de un continuo ininterrumpido de tama\u00f1os desde peque\u00f1o a muy grande. Observar los n\u00facleos aumentados de tama\u00f1o, los peque\u00f1os nucleolos m\u00faltiples, y los espacios entre c\u00e9lulas adyacentes, tambi\u00e9n llamadas \u201cventanas\u201d. La etiolog\u00eda de los derrames peric\u00e1rdicos es muy probablemente infeccioso (viral), autoinmune, inflamatorio (infarto de miocardio) o reactivo (uremia).
